The Feds Cracking Down on For Profit Schools
Student Loan Lawyer / 0 Comments /There has been recent publicity regarding the abuses perpetrated by for profit schools in this country, such as the school known as Corinthian. Corinthian and the other culprits typically have provided misleading information to their students pertaining to job placement programs and the success of those programs. Having taken out massive amounts of federal loans, upon finding out that their job prospects were not as represented by their schools, many students are rightly outraged and upset.
One avenue of relief that has recently cropped up is to appeal to the federal Department of Education to obtain forgiveness of the loans. A group of former students of Corinthian who refused to repay their loans has appealed to the Department of Education to have their loans forgiven by having the Department go back to Corinthian and forcing Corinthian to reimburse the government for the cost of the loans.
This matter is under review by the Department of Education. Hopefully, the Department will forgive the loans, go after Corinthian and begin a precedent of protecting the students of for profit schools that will extend beyond those harmed by Corinthian.
I will keep you posted.
